Auricular Therapy as an Effective Treatment To Quit Smoking

If you have made the decision to quit smoking but have struggled with cravings and will power, we may have a plausible solution for you- Auricular Therapy. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this term, auricular therapy is a safe (pain free) treatment of the ears at specific accupunture points with mild electrical stimulation. (It uses the same principles of accupunture without the needles.) By stimulating specific points, messages sent from the body to the brain regarding cravings for nicotine can be intercepted- this results in a disruption of the addictive/craving process. Auricular Therapy helps in the following ways:

1) It can stimulate and sedate precise nerve endings on the external ear, thereby eliminating your craving for nicotine. (Good thing, since nicotine is four times more addictive than heroin!)

2) The process is non-invasive and natural which helps reduce withdrawl symptoms typically people experience when they stop smoking. Research has shown that patients undergoing auricular therapy experience little to no withdrawl symptoms.

3) Auricular therapy treats the nicotine craving head on, rather than approaching it from a psychological aspect, which means a faster road to a healthy lifestyle for the former smoker.

Patients have noticed a relief to intense cravings after just one treatment of auricular therapy (reducing the number of cravings per day from 20 to 5). About 85% of patients stop smoking within six treatments, though further treatments may be necessary or recommended. The treatment takes about 15 minutes and costs $40.

What a great option for those who want to quit smoking!! It is such an addictive habit.

Indiana has an initiative right now for quitting smoking - just think of how many people could benefit from this!

Thanks for making people aware of this option....I wish I could get my dad to do it!!!

I wish there was a similar type of therapy for chewing tobacco users. I have chewed snuff for almost fifteen years now and would do anything to quit, but just can't kick it alone. Getting health insurance is even starting to become difficulty. My mouth is starting to hurt at time, but it still won't stop me from chewing. Grr.
