To evaluate if the body is out of homeostasis we conduct a number of more extensive tests than the medical field because we have to have a wider range of understanding of how the body is actually working.
One of the things we use is an extensive blood test. I need that to determine the treatments necessary to bring the body to full health.
A medical doctor on the other hand is looking for disease when they do labs to be able to provide a treatment process to treat the disea…

My cholesterol has been testing high. It has concerned me that my
Medical insurance premiums might be affected. And the last thing that I want to do is have
Heart surgery.
I did start on medication this summer and have noticed improvement. I tired diet and exercise, but the medication is what finally did the job. H…

I have now been with The Prather Wellness Center for 3 months, and it has been a great challenge learning all of the details that go along with a cutting edge chiropractic office (not to mention all of the patient's names!) I have been assisting with the Electro Dermal Screenings, and I must say that I have been extremely impressed.
I have already seen remarkable improvements in patients, with both symptoms and supplements narrowing down by the week. Some patients I have seen from their very fi…

Do any of us really have a choice in what health insurance we get? It seems that most of us are just grateful to get whatever our company provides. Being without insurance for almost a year after a layoff, I know I am glad to now be getting insurance.
Medical insurance,
Dental insurance, and Vision insurance are all important benefits to have in today's world.
What ideas exist that would allow em…

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz- the dreaded sound of summer fun; our "friend" the mosquito. Not only are mosquito bites a slight annoyance for most of the population, they can be a health threat to some. If you're like me, you may have a varying degree of "SKEETER SYNDROME." This means that rather than the typical small itchy red bumps, I can experience large areas of swelling all around the bite site. Others have it even worse and can go through everything from swollen appendages, blistering…

Many of our dedicated radio listeners heard the testimony of our very own Denise Sparks (R.N. and EDS technician here at the Prather Wellness Center.) Before being employed at this office, Denise was first and foremost a patient seeking relief for symptoms and medical issues that had plaugued her ever since high school and grew steadily worse through 2006.
Denise spoke to the fact that healing is a slow process and certainly isn't a drag race! When healing with homeopathic and natural remedies,…

In the spirit of the all important Indy 500, the Prather Wellness Center has been encouraging our community to "Race into health." Think of yourself as the driver of an Indy Car; you are the driver and you have the most direct personal responsibility, but you are still part of the team. Who are your team mates??
Your pit crew of health is much like the pit crew of an Indy racing team. True they may not change the oil, keep the motor running and rotate and change out bad tires per say but metaph…

I'm back from a 2 week stint in Abaco, Bahamas; a magical place with beautiful ocean views, friendly faces, and unfortunately relatively expensive food. Being a relatively small, dry island they have a LOT of goods imported from the states and it can make double, triple or even quadruple the price of what you would expect to pay at a grocery store here in the States. As a result, many people down there have poorer diets (though not as bad since they can get fresh seafood cheaply and then spend m…

Our monthly promotion right now is a free EMI (electro meridian imaging), or pre-acupuncture evaluation. It is a small electrical device that is used to evaluate how far off an individual's meridians are, to determine whether or not acupuncture will be an effective form of treatment for them. It is both non-needle and non-invasive. Since Dr. Prather is a structure/function doctor, he strives to make individuals achieve health by balancing their bodies, aka finding homeostasis. Everyone would hav…

I finally went through my entire new patient procedure with Dr. Prather and was amazed to find out how off my body really was. My atlas was out (or as Dr. P called it my head wasn't screwed on straight), my neck was not correct, I have slight scoleosis, my hips are uneven and lets not get started on how bad my feet are. During my first adjustment Dr. Prather told me I had a 2 inch difference in my legs (scary since 2 inches is close to death). After just my first adjustment my legs were lined up…

Allergy season is upon us! Ever since I was a child I have suffered from severe allergies! Over the years my allergies have subsided a bit, but I still struggle in the beginning of spring and fall! When I was little I was tested and told I was allergic to trees, grass, dust mites, mold, dogs, cats, etc. I was devistated to know that everything my childhood was about I was allergic to... Luckily I worked with some specialists and was able to control my allergy problem and have suffered from limit…

So far so good- the "cleanse" has officially begun. My biggest opponent at the moment is the drinking of the lemonade mixture itself. First of all, I don't tend to "drink" a lot anyways (even with meals) other than water when I work out or over heat. Plus, I am just plain getting sick of repeating the same drink over and over (unfortunately you can't switch the flavors out for a little much needed variety here and there.) But my will is strong and I'm bound and determined to make it through to F…

I have decided to go through the same process a number of our patients have been recommended to pursue- the dreaded and mythological 10 Day cleanse. It should be interesting because I LOVE food!! More than any health benefits I will gain, I look forward to trying my self discipline and will power to finish the entire process. Health wise, it will flush my system of built up toxins and help reset my metabolism- all in hopes I will have a fantastic 2 week vacation in the Bahamas.
Last night I off…

I can't tell you what a joy our office patients bring to my soul! We have such a wide array of interesting clientele to brighten my day. Of course on occasion there is the "impatient", but I find it especially rewarding to win them over to my side- usually by the 2nd or 3rd visit. It creates a fulfilling relationship to help people see improvement in their health and well being; knowing I am a part of that (even from an administrative stance) can be a great gift.
A Few That Stick Out:
