Prather Wellness

Many of our dedicated radio listeners heard the testimony of our very own Denise Sparks (R.N. and EDS technician here at the Prather Wellness Center.) Before being employed at this office, Denise was first and foremost a patient seeking relief for symptoms and medical issues that had plaugued her ever since high school and grew steadily worse through 2006.

Denise spoke to the fact that healing is a slow process and certainly isn't a drag race! When healing with homeopathic and natural remedies, you will often not have the much desired instant gratificaiton of quick steady results (aka feeling better). However, through doing routine lab tests on abnormal readings the body will often show it is in fact improving, healing and moving closer to homeostasis (or perfect health). We use those labs to gauge improvement, not someone's physical manifestations or feelings of illness. The healing process varies greatly between individuals- but expect to go through a detox period and slow restoration of health (rather than simply eliminating the physical symptoms) for at least a year or more. If you have more issues, it will obviously take longer to work closer to a homeostatic state of well being and the issues themselves are prioritized, not worked on all at once as that would be too much drastic change for one to go through all at once.

Denise also offered the following bits of advice to patients seeking to restore health in an effective, natural way:
- Be honest about all your symptoms (you never know which one the doctor may find "key" to your case)
- Ask lots of questions (in fact we encourage you to bring in lists of concerns or quesitons to your EDS appointments)
- Learn all you can without becoming obsessive to the point that knowledge does more harm than good
- Be open to instructions and suggestions from the doctor as far as treatments and modalities (be compliant)
- Most importantly, maintain your hope and have a positive healthy mental attitude
