Hello, many of you may not know me. My name is Sarah Webster and I joined the Prather Wellness team about a month ago. I have learned so many things in my time here and my eyes have been opened to a whole new world of medicine. I am very excited to part of this team and look forward to growing and learning with everyone. I want to share a story with everyone that may inspire you:
He grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and was the youngest of 3 children. His mother and father were both a pack a day smokers and eventually he and his brothers picked up the habit as well. Along with smoking he became addicted to food. His mother cooked everything in lard or butter and his favorite was fried chicken. Exercise was the furthest thing from this boys mind. As the boy grew up he became interested in the art of music. He loved to play guitar and sing. Eventually he and his friends formed a band and called themselves "The Idol Few"! It did not take long for this band to take off in the Indianapolis area, they were booking gigs left and right. Their songs were played on WIBC and they got to open for bands like The Beech Boys, Sonny and Cher, and the Monkey's just to name a few. By the time this young man graduated high school he was having the time of his life but in turn was taking time off his life. He was smoking a pack a day, drinking occasionally, and eating himself to death. Through the years the band spilt and an this young man started a life and a career. He started a family with four children of his own and started a successful business in 1982. Over time his eating habits effected his health and his life! In the mid to late 90's he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and lung disease. For years he struggled with weight problems, breathing issues, and other major medical happenings. In early 2008 his cardiologist told him that he would need to have his aortic semilunar valve replaced and a single by pass! After months of researching different surgical options he decided to go with a with a newer procedure which used a cadaver valve from a pig to replace his old broken one! On the morning of October 17, 2008 he was admitted into the heart hospital for his surgery. His family all gathered to wish him luck and pray for him as he was wheeled away to the operating room. After 5-6 hours of surgery the surgeon finally came out to tell his family that he had made it through surgery and that it would be a long road to recovery. The look in the sergeons eyes was one of fear and doubt. The next couple of days, with his family coming and going to look after him and pray with him, he struggled to keep hope and eventually on October 21, 2008 the good Lord came to take him to heaven. He passed away at the young age of 63 and the cause of death being defibrillation of the heart. Basically his heart just stopped even after this invasive surgery that he had imagined would tac years onto his life.
You may be wondering why I have chosen to post this story. Well this is the story of my father and his struggles with hearet disease. It wasn't until after he passed away that I heard of the External Counter Pulsation (ECP). This is a therapy which has been proven to cure congestive heart failure and is 100% non-invasive. Every medical doctor he went to told him he needed surgery and he needed this that and the other and looking back on it I wish I would have known about this ECP therapy ! If only he had the chance to try it he may still be with me today! I hope you all find this as inspiration to do everything you can to stick around for as long as you can. For more information on the ECP you can email me : Sarah@pratherwellness.com
